Trick or Treat!!

First things first... HUGE announcement... Jack walked BY HIMSELF this weekend! On Sat. he was playing with John by one of the chairs and John moved away from the chair and called him over and he took five unassisted steps to get there! It was SO exciting! Now we've opened a huge can of worms though - he wants to walk to and from everything... and of course being like his daddy he has NO fear and has decided to add attempting to climb things to his latest list of talents!

So, that was our excitement over the weekend... Great Aunt Anne was in town for a visit so we had her, Grandma, Mary, Tim, Ben and Josh over for dinner on Sat. night so Jack got to show off his amazing walking skills! We took it easy on Sunday - Jack of course practiced walking - and pretty much just hung out at home. Nothing too exciting.

Yesterday Jack had a Halloween Party at the library. It was so cute watching his reaction to all the kids dressed up in their costumes. It seems that Lions are all the rage this year and Jack thought their manes were meant for petting so he kept reaching out for them like he does our dogs. The party started with a little free play in the children's area of the library and then we went into the meeting room for songs and a snack before trick or treating at all the different reference desks of the library. Jack had a blast walking with Grandma from desk to desk.

His Halloween plans for tonight are much less festive I'm afraid... we're going to visit Poppy at his office this afternoon and then this evening we're going to stay in (keeping warm and dry) and let Jack play in his costume while we hand out candy.

There are some pictures from the party on the photo site... check back next week for some from tonight!

9 Month Check Up

Sorry for the delay in posting, but I decided to wait this week until after his 9 month check up so that I could relay all the latest stats:
Weight: 21lbs 14oz (up from 19lbs 7oz at six months)
Height: 30 1/4 inches (up from 28 inches at six months)
He's still in the 95th percentile in height and the 75th in weight so he's still on track to being tall and lean like his Daddy. His growth curve is right on track and he got a clean bill of health! The dr. was impressed with his level of physical activity and said that verbally (the unusually chatty Jack wouldn't stop talking while at the office visit) he was right on track as well so he's doing great!
Jack had a great weekend! He got to have lunch with "Aunt" Christy which is always a special treat and Nan came over for dinner on Sunday which of course we all loved! Uncle Ben kept us company on Tues. while John was traveling home from MI and Jack got to see his Grandma on Tues. too before she headed up to IA to visit Great-Great Aunt Juanita. We have an exciting weekend planned -brunch and Keeneland on Sunday so check back next week to see if this trip out was any better than his last Keeneland experience! Check out the photosite for some updated pictures... you'll notice that there is one of Jack with a busted lip. We had our first significant injury over the weekend it warranted a call to the emergency nurse line and everything! He bonked his lip on a table and tore the little thing that attaches your gums to your lip - not pretty and VERY bloody, but the nurse assured us it would heal quickly and she was right - four days later and there's little evidence of it ever happening! Have a great weekend!

Fun Weekend!

We started out the weekend with a bang by going to see where Daddy goes every day and bringing him lunch! Jack discovered he doesn't go into the cell phone, he goes to a huge office building! On Sat. Jack made his first visit to Cracker Barrel - oh the people watching he did!!! We think he enjoyed the experience very much and afterwards we went out to Boyd Orchards to pick some pumpkins and of course to get some apples to make an apple pie! Something about the cooler weather this weekend just screamed it was time for pie! Jack had a great time at the orchard crawling through the pumpkins and riding in the wagon - we may need to make another trip out before it gets too cold! Sunday we got to celebrate Nan's b-day! It was so much fun having the whole family (almost - Poppy was out of town) together for dinner. Jack is really in to watching his cousins play - he can't wait to be a big kid! Yesterday was a very special day because John stayed home from work so he could take Jack to swimming lessons! Jack had so much fun riding on his daddy in the water before and after class - we have video if you can receive LARGE files let me know and I'll send it to you! Not much on tap for the week ahead... check out the photosite, there are a ton of new pictures!

Grandma Weekend!

Jack had a great week! We had swim lessons on Monday and Wednesday and on Tues. we went to an Open House for a MOMS Club for our side of town and meet a really nice Mom that lives on our street! Apparently our little guy's schedules (she has a four month old) are just different enough that we haven't seen each out on our rounds around the neighborhood, but now that we know we're so close we hope to get together more often. We met up and took the guys to the park one afternoon last week and hopefully will do that again this week! Jack got to go to lunch with Grandma on Thursday and stop by and torment Jr. while visiting Mommy's old office. He thought Debbie and Kristina were a hoot and had a great time chasing the cat (that's Jr.) around. He got LOTS of Grandma time this weekend - Nan babysat him for several hours on Sat. and Grandma babysat on Sunday!
His top teeth have FINALLY broken through so we're hoping that means better sleep for everyone in the family. They're not quite through enough for us to really see them, but it won't be long! Now that he's mastered the walk behind toys he's moved on to bigger walking projects, pushing his toy basket, the laundry basket, the slide, attempting to move the ottoman... he's so ready to walk! He can now walk beside me holding just one hand - it's not very graceful yet, but he's working on the balance!
Not much on tap for the week ahead - swim lessons Mon. and Wed. and Uncle Ben is coming over to play again on Tues. and that about does it!
