25m Freestyle - came in 3rd I believe, we'll find out tomorrow. He got moved up to the second heat (from the 4th last week).
25m Backstroke. He came in last, but was the only child that did not swim on their front at all - the child who won swam probably 3/4 of the pool freestyle... we'll see what his ranking is tomorrow, but in my opinion he won this race as he was the only one that stayed on his back. He was also moved up to the 2nd heat in this race, again from the 4th.
Jack had his first swim meet last night and he did amazing!! He swam in two events - the 25m freestyle and the 25m backstroke. He was pumped for the 25m freestyle and very confident that he would do well - rightfully so, he came in 2nd! - but he was SUPER nervous about the backstroke. He had never completed the length of the pool in backstroke without one of his coaches help, but he did amazing!! He made it the whole length of the pool and came in 3rd (out of 4). Just that he finished was a HUGE success for him! When I told him he had to swim backstroke he told me he wanted to go home. That he tried his best and was able to do it was a huge confidence builder for him and since he has been talking about how he can't wait to do it at practice this morning so he can get better! The meet was a big success and everyone had a lot of fun! We can't wait for next week! Here are some videos of the big night - they are a little choppy because for some reason I thought I could take pictures at the same time as taking videos, which I could, but... it kind of makes the video look a bit weird. Lesson learned!! Check out the photo site too - I posted some new pictures! Enjoy!
Jack built this all by himself!

We have returned from our annual trip to the beach and once again had a fantastic time! The kids did GREAT in the car - so much so that we decided to do the whole drive on the way home and get back a day earlier than planned! They loved the beach and the pool! The only time we left the island was to go to Fort Sumter and the boat ride lived up to Jack's super high expectations! He loved being on the boat and looking at all the cannons - for the rest of the week he would make Fort Sumters in the sand and make them get destroyed by cannon fire... Charlie was a huge fan of the pool and has discovered her inner fish. She loves going for rides on our backs under the water, jumping in like a wild woman and being tossed SUPER high into the air to splash back in to the water. At one point she had the entire pool watching and laughing at her! It was an eye opening trip realizing how much Jack is growing up. The first day we were there he made a friend (also 5yrs old, also named Jack, and also about to start kindergarten) and that was the last we saw of Jack at the pool. This was the first year that he really could be independent in the pool and just play with his friend (and his older brother) while we just sat on the side and watched... The highlight of the trip (for Jack anyway) was the capture of our new pet - Fast Fellow (noticing a trend?) a green anole (tiny lizard).
Here are some videos of the trip and check the photosite for a BUNCH of pictures - 4 new albums to look at: 1. a few pictures before we left for the trip. 2. pictures that Charlie took with our camera 3. our pictures from the trip. 4. a few pictures after we got home. I'm still waiting on the pictures from the other beach ladies and will post them as soon as I get them. Enjoy!
